Glenn A. Hoskins is a native Lexingtonian, and has practiced law in Lexington since his admission to the bar in 1979.
He graduated from Henry Clay High School, received a bachelor of arts degree from Vanderbilt University in 1976 (with a double major in economics and business administration), and graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1979. He is admitted to practice in all Kentucky Courts and in the U.S. District Court.
With a keen interest in real estate and development as a young man, Mr. Hoskins was drawn to a small but “up and coming” law firm, Webb, Cone & Ward, which he joined as an associate in 1979. He gradually gained an expertise in residential and commercial real estate, land use planning, complex financing and §1031 tax deferred transactions. That firm evolved into the present firm of Webb, Hoskins, Glover & Thompson, P.S.C.
His family, which owns one of Lexington’s oldest and most prominent building supply businesses, requested that he become more involved in the long-term needs of that business, so in 1995, he physically moved his full-time office location into the Lexington Building Supply building in Lexington, but he kept, and continues to maintain, his interest and involvement in Webb, Hoskins, Glover & Thompson, P.S.C.
At the present time, his law practice is concentrated in the areas of commercial real estate and financing, single and multi-family residential matters, leases, condominium law, general business law and §1031 deferred tax exchanges. His clients include:
The Webb Companies
Haymaker Development Co., LLC
Lexington Building & Supply Co., Inc.
Bluegrass Truss Company
Cheddar’s Casual Café’ Restaurants
Cherry Blossom Development Co., LLC
Mr. Hoskins is a member of the American, Kentucky and Fayette County Bar Associations, and served as a Member of the Board of Governors of the Fayette County Bar Association from 1985-1988.
Mr. Hoskins has, throughout his adult life, served his community in several capacities. He was a graduate of one of the first “Leadership Lexington” classes (1983), has been active in the Greater Lexington Chamber of Commerce (serving on its Board of Directors in 1992-1994), and as a member (appointed by the Mayor) on the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Ethics Commission from 1995 to 1999 (serving as Chairman from 1997-1999).
From 1999-2008, he served on the Board of Directors of Wesley Village (an assisted care retirement community affiliated with the United Methodist Church). He is an active member of Southern Hills United Methodist Church, where he has served in leadership positions on numerous boards and committees, including the Administrative Board (Past Chairman) and the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee (Past Chairman). He presently serves on the Building and Location Board of the Lexington District (Kentucky Conference) of the United Methodist Church, and on the Standing Rules Committee of the Kentucky Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Mr. Hoskins has been married to Elizabeth B. Hoskins for 23 years. They (along with their 2 Yorkshire terriers (Lizzie and Lillie), spend most of their free time in a vacation home located near Lake Cumberland in South-Central Kentucky, where they enjoy boating, golf and hiking. Mr. and Mrs. Hoskins are members of Lexington Country Club and The Lexington Club.
